Anne Arundel County detectives Monday continued to piece together clues to a deadly shooting in a quiet Crofton neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
After at least two black men entered his home, Christopher Michael Haramis, 25, of 1709 Leisure Way, was shot multiple times police said. Haramis was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and was listed in critical condition Monday morning.
Another man, a black male believed to be one of the men who entered the home, was shot and killed.
Police were waiting for positive identification and notification of family members before releasing the man?s name.
The suspects might have been part of a group of people who tried to rob a couple early Sunday morning as they were attending a party at Haramis? residence, police spokesman Lt. David Waltemeyer said.
The partygoers were alerted to the attempted robbery and called police, he said. The suspects fled with cash and other personal belongings, but no shots were fired. Police K-9 units did not track down the suspected robbers. Police could not say whether the robbery was a motive for the shooting Sunday afternoon.
“We?ll have commercial robberies sometimes down there but not many residential ones,” Waltemeyer said.
Lois Heuer, 82, who lives down the street from Haramis, said he had not lived in the neighborhood very long, but said disruptions like the Sunday shooting were rare.
“I?ve been here many years, and I?ve not known anything like this to happen before,” she said.
Police said Haramis lived in the house with two other relatives. A friend who had spent the night was also in the residence at the time of the shooting, Waltemeyer said, but none of them were injured.
