Woman dragged into alley in Columbia Heights

A woman was walking in Columbia Heights early Saturday when she was dragged into an alley by a stranger.

Police said the woman was grabbed from behind by a Hispanic man around 1:20 a.m. When she screamed he fled, running south into the alley.

The crime occurred on the 1400 block of Irving Street Northwest, just a block from the Columbia Heights Metro station.

Fire destroys D.C. political watchdogs’ home

The home of two D.C. political watchdogs burned down Friday in Columbia Heights.

Destroyed was the three-story house owned by Dorothy Brizill and her husband Gary Imhoff. One firefighter was injured while fighting the blaze on the 1300 block of Girard Street NW, according to the fire department.

Brizill and Imhoff run D.C. Watch, an online political magazine.
