ABC News’ Jonathan Karl was elected on Friday to be the new president of the White House Correspondents Association.

Karl has worked for ABC News since 2003, starting out as a senior foreign affairs correspondent and has followed beats including the Pentagon. Before joining ABC News, he worked as a congressional correspondent for CNN, according to his official biography.
He will succeed Jeff Mason of Reuters, who offered congratulations on Twitter.
