Minnesota authorities said two people were killed and several others injured, including three police officers, after a shooting in downtown Minneapolis on Tuesday.
The suspect was killed, police said, and the three officers are in stable condition, per the Hennepin County Medical Center. Two of the officers suffered gunshot wounds.

The city said the incident took place “in the area of” 15 E. Grant St., the site of Loring Towers, a high-rise apartment building. The focus of the response centered on the eighth floor of the apartment complex, where officers armed with long guns kept watch on the building for an extended period, according to CBS News. Two heavily armored SWAT vehicles were staged at the intersection, and ambulances lined both the immediate area and the block leading toward downtown, according to the outlet.
The Hennepin County Medical Center said it had seven patients from the shooting but did not disclose their condition. One witness told KARE 11 that she was inside the lobby of Loring Towers when she heard an argument, multiple shots fired, and one person struck by gunfire. An alert sent out by the University of St. Thomas said a shooter was located and one person is in custody, according to the outlet.
Several stretchers were seen being brought out of the building, and some of those removed appeared to have leg injuries.
“Please avoid the area of 12th Street to Franklin Ave. and from Hennepin to 3rd Ave. South to allow emergency personnel to safely conduct response operations,” the city said in a press release.
FBI Director Kash Patel said his agency is aware of the shooting involving law enforcement.
“Our personnel are responding — we will offer any and all resources necessary to assist local authorities,” he said in a post to X.
“Grateful to law enforcement actively working to ensure the safety of our neighbors in Downtown Minneapolis this afternoon,” Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) said in a statement. “Minnesota is praying for our first responders.”
“My public safety team is responding to a shooting that took place downtown Minneapolis this afternoon. State officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement,” he added in another message.
