Trump blames ‘politics’ after NBC reports on Russia briefing before he gets one

President-elect Trump is up in arms with the Obama administration after NBC reported on an intelligence report that the incoming Republican leader has not yet been able to read.

“How did NBC get an ‘exclusive look into the top secret report he (Obama) was presented?’ Who gave them this report and why? Politics!” Trump tweeted Thursday night.

The report was delivered to Obama on Thursday and at one point, it described Russian leaders celebrating after Trump won on election night. Other aspects of the report said the Democratic National Committee was not the only group targeted by Russian hackers, but that the White House, Joint Chiefs of Staff, State Department and American corporations were also targeted.

NBC published the story, citing a source, after the Washington Post initially put out a story on the intelligence report.

The officials who prepared the report said the attacks were meant to be payback for the Obama administration’s downplaying Russian President Vladimir Putin’s authority. They also concluded Russian actors had been trying to interfere in U.S. presidential elections since 2008.

Trump is slated to be briefed on the report’s findings on Friday. He took to Twitter with additional questions.

“The Democratic National Committee would not allow the FBI to study or see its computer info after it was supposedly hacked by Russia,” Trump asked on Twitter.

“So how and why are they so sure about hacking if they never even requested an examination of the computer servers? What is going on?” Trump added.

Obama has told Trump to wait until he gets his briefing before further declaring there is not enough evidence to declare Russia the culprit.

“When the president-elect receives his own briefings and is able to examine the intelligence, as his team is put together and they see how professional and effective these agencies are, some of those current tensions will be reduced,” Obama said in an interview Thursday.
