The bad news we already know: San Francisco has a $483 million budget deficit that must be resolved before June 1. But the good news is Mayor Gavin Newsom has no plans to raise taxes to offset that budget shortfall.
That means Newsom will balance the budget with layoffs, cuts and labor concessions.
“A lot of it may not come as a major surprise,” Newsom said. “It’s a lot of little decisions.”
The mayor was planning to meet with labor Wednesday to have a final come-to-Jesus meeting about how to avoid anymore layoffs.
“We need to get there, and if we don’t, there will be more layoffs,” Newsom said.
