Fairfax County police are looking for two men who scam people by claiming to have a winning lottery ticket.
At least three people have given thousands of dollars in cash to the scammers this summer.
In July, a 45-year-old man relinquished nearly $15,000 to two men he met at a gas station because he believed they would give him a percentage of the winnings, police said this week.
In May, two men used a lottery scam to get $2,000 from a man in the parking lot of a grocery store on the 7600 block of Richmond Highway.
And in June, two men approached a man in a parking lot on the 7300 block of Lee Highway, saying they needed help cashing a winning lottery ticket. They then robbed the man. – Emily Babay
