Every voting group except one, liberals, oppose President Joe Biden’s $80 billion plan to hire 87,000 IRS agents to challenge taxpayers.
As the new Republican majority in the House attempts to kill the strike force and its funding, new polling from Rasmussen Reports shows that most U.S. voters agree with the GOP plan.

Overall, 56% back killing the funding, including 40% who “strongly approve” of the repeal. Just 37% opposed the House GOP promise.
While opposition to a far larger Internal Revenue Service just three months from Tax Day may seem a no-brainer, liberals stood out in the survey as the agency’s biggest friends.
Rasmussen found that 58% of liberals oppose canceling the $80 billion for the IRS megaforce. Of those, 47% “strongly” disapproved.

Among Republicans, the numbers were flipped: 64% approved of canceling the funding to 29% who don’t. Independents, conservatives, and moderates also approved of the House GOP plan.
It was the first policy question asked by Rasmussen since it found that most people want the new Congress to lead in Washington this year, not Biden.
“With the new session of Congress underway, voters are somewhat optimistic that things will get better, and a majority are convinced that President Biden should let Congress lead,” said Rasmussen.
