CYCLING

March 20: Learn to Ride, downtown Washington, 1 p.m. The Washington Area Bicyclist Association is holding a three-hour seminar for adults about how to ride a bike. Info: waba.org.

March 27: Confident City Cycling, Washington, 1 p.m. This two-hour class, hosted by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, focuses on basic skills such as proper fit, starting and stopping, and signaling. Half of the class will take place in the classroom and half will be on the bike practicing bike-handling skills. Info: waba.org.

HIKING

March 17: Easy Hikers, Greenbelt, 10:15 a.m. The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club’s Easy Hikers group will hike four to five miles in Greenbelt Park. Info: potomacappalchian.org.

INLINE SKATING

March 21: Intermediate skate, White House, 11 a.m. The Washington Area Roadskaters lead this regular weekly skate around the streets of D.C. Inline skaters will go about eight to 10 miles, with a pace designed to be a workout. Info: skatedc.org

RUNNING

March 17: Tidal Basin 3K, West Potomac Park, noon. The D.C. Road Runners hold this low-key event around Hains Point every third Wednesday of the month. Info: dcroadrunners.org.

March 20: National Marathon, RFK Stadium, 7 a.m. There are still slots available for runners who want to try a full 26.2-mile marathon or a half-marathon through the streets of D.C. Info: nationalmarathon.com.

March 21: Country Road 5-Mile, Olney, 8 a.m. The Montgomery County Road Runners Club is holding this race through the rolling hills of Olney, starting at the Olney Swim Center. This race originally was scheduled for Feb. 21. Info: mcrrc.org.

TRIATHLON

March 27: Multisport World Expo, North Bethesda. The expo at Georgetown Prep will offer triathletes workshops, seminars, training clinics, competitive events and a vendor expo. Info: multisportworld.com.
