Ann Coulter is well-known for her own controversial opinions. And it’s a presidential candidate that is making a splash with his own contentious statements that has her vote and full endorsement.

Coulter spoke briefly to Red Alert Politics at the National Conservative Student Conference Friday.

She explained that Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is her favorite candidate because he is able to push the conversation in ways that other candidates can’t because he is self-funded.

“Well, look at how Trump is working!” Coulter said, referencing Trump’s outspoken opinions which have resonated with the American people.

“Because Trump is self-funded, oh my gosh, it’s amazing!”

Often GOP politicians are afraid of losing funding, so basically the American people get stuck with politics as usual, she explained.

“He’s funding himself,” Coulter said. “…He’s not typically the kind of candidate I support, but I am all ‘Go Trump, Go!'”

Not the “typical candidate” indeed – but Trump has stuck a nerve among the American people who seem to be tired of the career politicians toeing the party line and worrying more about big donors and money than about representing their constituents.

Coulter sees Trump’s campaign as a positive thing for not only the GOP candidates, but all candidates, because he is making them address topics instead of avoiding straight answers.

“All of the rest of them have agreed. They’re like a baseball team – ‘none of us will take steroids,’ and he took steroids, so now they’re all screwed.”
