Obama joins Richard Branson for kitesurfing in the Caribbean (VIDEO)

Former President Barack Obama appears to be enjoying life after the White House, including learning to kitesurf with billionaire Richard Branson in the British Virgin Islands.

Branson published a blog post showing the former president and himself competing to see who could pick up a new sport first. Obama was attempting to learn kitesurfing while Branson went after foilboarding.

Branson conceded to Obama, who apparently was a natural.

“We were neck and neck until the last run on the last day, when I got up on the foilboard and screamed along for over 50 metres, three feet above the water,” Branson wrote. “I was feeling very pleased with myself, only to look over and see Barack go 100 metres on his kiteboard! I had to doff my cap to him and celebrate his victory.”

Obama has been on vacation since leaving the White House, first to California and then joining Branson in the Caribbean.

Branson wrote that Obama loved surfing in Hawaii before he was president, but wasn’t allowed to do it while he was president. He’s picking back up old hobbies now, Branson said.
