[WATCH] U.S. Senate candidate – and his dog – attack McConnell for looking like a turtle

Sadly, Rep. Steve Stockman’s “pants on fire” tweet might not have been the weirdest campaign attack mounted against Texas Sen. John Cornyn this week. Businessman Dwayne Stovall just released a new campaign spot targeting both Cornyn and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the latter specifically for his distinct resemblance to a turtle.

In the ad, Stovall – who is dressed head-to-toe in denim and sitting on the back of his pickup truck with his dog and his gun – goes after Cornyn for being too cozy with McConnell.

“As a U.S. Senator for Texas, you vote for Texas, you don’t stab her in the back by voting for cloture on Obamacare, you don’t enslave its children with unconstitutional laws and overwhelming debt,” he said. “And you certainly don’t do all this to please some guy that looks and fights like a turtle.”

It is at that moment when a separated-at-birth graphic of McConnell and a cartoon turtle appears on the screen.

“I’m a Texan, we Texans don’t need a beltway turtle telling us how to fight,” he adds.

As if that wasn’t enough bizarre, Stovall’s golden retriever then chimes in, expressing how much he turtle-based delicacies.

“I like turtle soup,” the dog says, to which Stovall replied, “really?”
