Honors pouring in for Vasquez

Maryland guard Greivis Vasquez has won his third Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week award this season and seventh of his career.

On Monday, the senior had 30 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and zero turnovers in an 85-66 win over Virginia. On Wednesday, Vasquez had 26 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds, leading Maryland to a 67-58 comeback win at N.C. State.

On Saturday, Vasquez had 18 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds in a 76-74 win over Georgia Tech, and in the process became the first player in ACC history to notch 2,000 points, 700 assists, and 600 rebounds in his career.

Vasquez was also named the national player of the week by ESPN analyst Andy Katz.

GMU’s Foster named CAA Rookie of the Week

George Mason forward Kevin Foster was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week after averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two Patriot losses. Foster, a freshman, is the third Mason player to win the award this season. Guards Luke Hancock (twice) and Sherrod Wright (once) were the previous GMU Rookie of the Week winners.
