The Alexandria City Council will discuss whether to create a Potomac Yard Metrorail Implementation Work Group at one of its final meetings of the summer on June 28.
The group would deal with technical and policy issues surrounding the construction of the new Potomac Yard Metro stop, taking over from the Metrorail Station Feasibility Work Group. The $270 million rail stop has been an ongoing project for Alexandria for years.
If approved by the City Council, the work group’s first meeting will be June 30 at 6:30 in the Alexandria City Hall.
The city has also scheduled a workshop to discuss its controversial, $50 million Waterfront Plan. The Alexandria Waterfront Committee will host the meeting on June 29 at 4 p.m. in City Hall.
The City Council recently pushed back its discussion of the waterfront issue until September.
