Donald Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday to rub his New York victory in Ted Cruz’s face, after Cruz finished a distant third in the Empire State’s primary.
“Ted Cruz is mathematically out of winning the race. Now all he can do is be a spoiler, never a nice thing to do. I will beat Hillary!” Trump tweeted early Wednesday morning.

During his Tuesday night victory speech, the Republican front-runner was much more relaxed about his victory, but did note that “Cruz has just about been mathematically eliminated.”
The billionaire businessman took at least 89 of the state’s 95 delegates Tuesday, and won 60.5 percent of the vote. Trump now has 845 delegates, less than 400 short of the 1,237 needed to secure the nomination ahead of the GOP convention in July.
Cruz remains at 556 delegates after a disappointing Tuesday in New York, Trump’s home state.
