Beginning Thursday, thousands of charities across the U.S., including the Chevy Chase Rescue Squad in Bethesda, will compete for cash in the annual Chase Community Giving Face-off.
Winners are selected based on fan votes on the Chase Community Giving app on Facebook. Last year District charity Vote for Hope won $100,000, while Friendship Circle in Potomac and Resolve Uganda Inc. in the District both won lesser amounts.
Since the program began in 2009, $5 million has been given away.
