A Louisiana Senate candidate jeered at Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw during an Illinois fundraising event after he told attendees the Republican Party did not lose the 2020 election due to stolen votes.
Crenshaw, a Republican, spoke at the Illinois GOP Reception dinner in Rosemont when he told attendees the idea of a stolen election was a serious error. Bobby Piton, a fellow Republican and 2022 Senate candidate from the state, heckled Crenshaw and said he was wrong to dismiss the fraud theory.
“Don’t kid yourself into believing that’s why we lost,” Crenshaw responded. “It’s not. It’s not. I’ll tell you openly.”
“You’re wrong, you’re wrong!” Piton yelled before Crenshaw reiterated it would take an unprecedented five-state flip to overturn the election. “I have plenty of proof. I have proof in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.”

Crenshaw acknowledged talking to Piton previously, seemingly referencing a conversation in which the Senate candidate claimed he was involved in Maricopa County election investigations.
“It’s gonna turn out, and it’s gonna flip,” Piton continued. “You watch.”
“It won’t, it won’t. And you need all five states to make it work,” the Texas Republican replied. “I’m not going to argue with you on this.”
Crenshaw turned his attention away from Piton and told the crowd that while voter fraud is a real issue, it can’t be treated as the reason for Republican losses.
“Five different states? Hundreds of thousands of votes?” he asked. “You’re kidding yourself.”

“I’m grateful I could expose yet another corrupt politician,” Piton tweeted after the encounter. “Calling him a RINO is too polite. He seems to be crossing over to traitor status; putting globalist interests ahead of our United States of America!”

Crenshaw has historically positioned himself as an ally of former President Donald Trump and has repeatedly supported the Make America Great Again agenda.
“He’s an ex-president. You can’t just excommunicate him,” Crenshaw said in May after meeting Trump in Florida. “He’s an ex-leader of our party, and trying to excommunicate him in an aggressive fashion will never work [because] he does have a large base of support within our party, but what also won’t work is this belief that he will continue to be the leader of our party in the future.”

The same month, Crenshaw, a veteran and former Navy SEAL, warned U.S. military officials he intended to expose “wokeness” among the top brass.
“Enough is enough,” Crenshaw said in a tweet announcing a new initiative for whistleblowers to report ideological bias in the military. “We won’t let our military fall to woke ideology.”
