The Daily Outrage: We figure the pink monkey house was probably an impulse buy

Who: Veteran Affairs AdministrationWhat: According to the Government Accountability Office, the VA is spending $175 million annually to maintain run-down buildings, including 314 vacant ones.

Why it’s an outrage: The buildings are home to rats, lead paint, wall-to-wall fungal growth, mold, radon, spare tires. Among them is a 325-square-foot pink, octagonal monkey house in Dayton, Ohio. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of American troops are preparing to return to the U.S. and will require expensive support.

Where to vent: Call the inspector general at 202-461-4725.
