President Trump complimented his daughter, Ivanka Trump, on Saturday for taking in stride the wave of news coverage she received this week.
“I am so proud of my daughter Ivanka. To be abused and treated so badly by the media, and to still hold her head so high, is truly wonderful!” Trump tweeted.

Ivanka Trump had a bit of a turbulent news week after Nordstrom announced it was dropping her fashion line due to declining sales. Other stores, like TJ Maxx, followed suit by dropping or shrinking their selection of Ivanka’s products. Afterwards, Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Trump, found herself in an ethics controversy for plugging Ivanka’s fashion line during an interview.
“My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom,” Trump tweeted Wednesday. “She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”
Ivanka was also called out by the owner of a local Washington, D.C., gym she attends, mentioning her father “threatening” the rights of some of her clients. After an original Facebook post was deleted, the owner later said Ivanka is “welcome” at the gym, and wants to set up a private class for her.
According to press pool reports, the president tweeted out his latest thoughts on Ivanka while in between a game of golf and a working dinner at the Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Trump said in follow-up tweets that he had “a great time” playing golf with Abe, and expects “Very good talks” tonight.
