On a beautiful, sunny autumn morning, Loyola and Calvert Hall played the 88th Annual Turkey Bowl, a game that binds grandfathers to grand children and to many, symbolizes Thanksgiving as much as stuffing and cranberry sauce.
Loyola scored early and often to post a 33-10 victory to clinch a share of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title along with Mount St. Joseph and maintain its dominance over the Cardinals. The fourth-ranked Dons (9-1 overall, 4-1 league) cruised to their fifth straight victory over Calvert Hall (5-6, 1-4), which lost to Loyola for the 19th time in the past 23 years.
Loyola junior quarterback Leon Kinnard ran for three touchdowns and threw for 177 yards, including a 60-yarder to Brandon Floyd on his team?s first play from scrimmage, to lead his team to its second consecutive conference title.
