Trump Fundraising Email: ‘Make America Safe Again’

In the wake of the terrorist attack on an Orlando nightclub Sunday morning, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump seized on the crisis, first by tweeting that he saw it coming and now in a fundraising email headed “Make America Safe Again!”

“The horrific attack that took place this past weekend reveals how weak the leadership is in our country,” Trump begins the fundraising pitch. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the many friends and families affected by the events in Orlando, Florida. I am going to be a President for all Americans, and I am going to protect and defend all Americans. We will not stand by and allow another tragedy like this to happen. We are going to make America safe again and great again for everyone.”

Trump continues by recounting his “big wins in California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota” and previewing his Monday national security speech.

The candidate also plugs the Trump Victory Fund, a joint effort with the Republican National Committee “raising funds for the campaign and Republicans down ballot to ensure that we have the support we need from Republicans everywhere.”

Prior to the Victory Fund’s launch, Trump touted his status as a self-funded candidate not beholden to donors. He characterized his entry into big-dollar fundraising as a Republican party request.

“The RNC really wanted to do it, and I want to show good spirit,” he told the Associated Press in late May.
