The destruction of the country’s urban centers is not just a product of liberal rage, said Fox News host Tucker Carlson, but the result of big donors seeking to punish the middle class for the 2016 election outcome.
“It’s becoming clearer, the middle class voted for Donald Trump,” Carlson said. “Our leaders have decided to punish the middle class for doing that. Never in our history have our elites been this reckless and this angry.”
Cities across the country have seen surges of violence in recent months to the point where the federal government intervened by sending in agents to help aid local law enforcement.
Unrest began after the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody but has since escalated into deeper riots about a number of social issues.
Carlson pointed to not only the rising violence in metropolitan areas but smaller places such as Bend, Oregon, where activists tried to block an Immigration and Customs Enforcement bus, prompting federal action.
The biggest change in today’s destruction is that it has the support of donors in the tech industry and the professional class, which is mostly comprised of Democrats, he said.
“The Democratic Party coddles the mob you see on TV, our elites fund the Democratic Party,” Carlson said. “That’s how it works.”
Carlson predicted the violence is eventually going to drive people out of areas once the mobs move into communities that have expressed solidarity to the unrest.
“At some point, they’re going to wake up from this bender and realize they’ve destroyed their own home,” he said. “And their first instinct is, as it always is, would be to leave, to split for St. Barth’s, but we should not let them. We should seize their passports now. They did this, they should have to live with the consequences. In midtown.”
