Cher: Trump trying to bankrupt Postal Service so people can’t vote by mail

Singer and songwriter Cher accused President Trump of attempting to bankrupt the U.S. Postal Service in order to ensure that people can’t vote by mail.

“DOESNT ANYONE CARE THAT PPL WHO HAVE SMALL BUSINESSES ARE GOING UNDER BECAUSE OF HIM. THEY’RE LOSING EVERYTHING,” she tweeted Monday.

“Ps trump wants Blue States 2Declare BANKRUPTCY. Pss. He Wants Post office to go bankrupt so we Cant vote by Mail.” she continued.

Democrats across the country have been calling for increased mail-in ballots in order to stem the spread of the coronavirus at polling places despite voter fraud concerns. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said she intends to insert mail-in ballot measures into the next coronavirus relief package.

“In this next bill, we will be supporting vote by mail in a very important way — we think it’s a health issue at this point,” Pelosi said Monday on MSNBC.

Critics of mail-in voting have pointed out a report that more than 28 million mail-in ballots have been unaccounted for over the last 10 years, and a court briefing in New Mexico suggested that thousands of noneligible voters in the state are eligible to receive mail-in ballots, including many dead people.

In 2019, the Heritage Foundation compiled a list of over 1,000 documented cases of voter fraud that resulted in hundreds of convictions across 47 states.

“I will never let our Post Office fail,” Trump tweeted on Friday. “It has been mismanaged for years, especially since the advent of the internet and modern-day technology. The people that work there are great, and we’re going to keep them happy, healthy, and well!”
