Steve King invites Diamond of Diamond & Silk to State of the Union

Diamond, half of the outspoken Trump-supporting duo Diamond & Silk, won a coin toss to attend the State of the Union.

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said Diamond, whose real name is Lynnette Hardaway, would be his guest at President Trump’s Tuesday address.

King said he invited both of the social media personalities to the State of the Union, but he only had one ticket to offer. Thus, a coin toss would determine who would be his guest.

“Diamond won the coin toss,” he tweeted of the sisters.

The conservative social media sensations have been ardent supporters of President Trump, defending him against allegations that he’s racist — the duo is African-American — and encouraging the president to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.

King faced a barrage of criticism last month when he was quoted in a New York Times story asking why the phrase “white supremacy” had become offensive. He said his comments had been mischaracterized, but House Republicans voted to remove him from his committee assignments, citing a pattern of inflammatory comments from the Iowa lawmaker.
