Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez slammed Mayor Lori Lightfoot about her “silence” regarding bricks thrown through his office window.
Lopez said he believes the attack earlier this week was done by gangs in retaliation for him trying to crack down on landlords who rent to known gang members.
“When you Mayor, refuse to call out the terror attacks on our communities, especially on their electeds, criminals only feel more emboldened to continue their reign,” Lopez tweeted on Monday along with photos of the scene. “Glass can be replaced, peace of mind and security cannot. Your silence is destroying this city!”

Lightfoot said she made sure local officials were in contact with Lopez when there was a separate attack at his home to make sure his security needs were addressed.
“Any attack on any elected official simply can’t be tolerated in our city,” she said.
Lopez said he had not heard from her despite her claims.
After Lightfoot removed statues of Christopher Columbus in city parks overnight Thursday, Lopez took to Twitter, accusing her of being submissive to mob rule.
“What has become of Chicago?” he wrote on Friday. “We have a mayor forced into submission by anarchy & mob-rule? No more public process, official discourse, or on-the-record debate. The lesson learned is that if you want action from Lightfoot, show up en mass at her house & she will cave every time.”

Lightfoot said more statues will be removed and said it is attempt to avoid the violent clashes between protesters and police seen across the country as demonstrators have tried to tear down statues.
Lopez and Lightfoot, both Democrats, also clashed during the start of the riots that were sparked after George Floyd died in Minneapolis police custody. Protests that turned violent in Chicago left several businesses and areas of the city severely damaged.
When asked if she had a plan to control the spread of looting and violence in the city during the riots, Lightfoot declined to respond, telling Lopez, “I think you’re 100% full of shit” in leaked audio obtained by several news outlets.
