Who: Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va

What: At an education forum in Arlington, Moran said: “We have been guided by a Republican administration who believes in the simplistic notion that people who have wealth are entitled to keep it, and they have an antipathy towards the means of redistributing wealth.”

Why it’s dim: The “simplistic” notion that people have the right to keep their own property is what separates free nations from totalitarian ones.

Cure: Read the Bill of Rights.

Daily Outrage

No Ventura highway

Who: Ventura County, Calif.

What: Officials converted The Mill, an old grain warehouse and feed store in Santa Paula, into an agriculture museum that will be owned and operated by the Ventura County Transportation Commission.

Why it’s an outrage: They used a $2.6 million Federal Highway Administration grant for the renovation when funds are desperately needed for highway construction and maintenance are dwindling all over the U.S.
