Connolly to fete supporters on “High Holy Day”

Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., is set to host his 17th annual St. Patrick’s Day fete at Kena Shrine Temple in Fairfax Thursday evening — with corned beef and cabbage among the items likely on the menu.

Connolly began hosting the event when he first ran for a seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and has continued the tradition ever since, as it’s grown from a small gathering in Connolly’s home to what is now called the largest annual political gathering in Northern Virginia.

Each year, attendees enjoy “traditional Irish fare” like corned beef and cabbage (yummy), as well as Irish music and other foodstuffs.

The event is expected to attract elected officials, volunteers, and political activists.
