Major Metro delays after employee hit by train

A Metro employee was hit by a train between the Braddock Road and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stations Thursday morning, according to preliminary reports, causing major delays on the Yellow and Blue lines.

The man, who was struck at 10:40 a.m. and who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, Metro said.

Metro warns passengers to expect major delays on the two lines throughout the afternoon.

The transit agency has split the Blue Line into two segments: Between the Franconia-Springfield and King Street stations, and between the Largo and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stations.

The Yellow Line is also split into two segments:. Between the Huntington and King Street stations and between the Fort Totten and airport stations.

Metro is using shuttle buses to take riders between the King Street, Braddock Road and airport stations.
