Maryland has received a $2,000 grant to help the student member of the state Board of Education communicate with county and local student leaders.
The National Association of Boards of Education awarded the grants through the Student Leadership Initiative, funded by the MetLife Foundation. Three other states also received the grants: Massachusetts, Montana and Tennessee.
The money would make it easier for the Maryland board?s student member, Brian Frazee, to relay information from the monthly meetings to his peers and student leaders statewide, State Schools Superintendent Nancy Grasmick said.
