WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) — Superstorm Sandy may be a distant memory for many Rhode Islanders, but a statewide service organization is asking for volunteers to help clean up and repair Westerly’s Misquamicut (mis-KWA’-mih-kut) beach area before the start of tourism season.
The group Serve Rhode Island says volunteers are needed to clear debris, repair buildings and restore beaches over the next several weeks. The volunteer and service organization says it especially needs people with skills in construction and demolition to clean up Winnapaug Pond.
