Fairfax County police followed the trail of the suspected getaway car to track down the man they said stole OxyContin from a pharmacy while disguised as Spider-Man on Monday afternoon.
Police arrested Dave Edward Wolfe during a 2 a.m. traffic stop in a vehicle that matched witnesses’ descriptions of the car a masked thief used to flee the Giant store.
“With the tip and whatwitnesses told us Monday night, we were able to put two and two together,” Fairfax County police spokeswoman Camille Neville said.
Wolfe, 25, was being held at the Fairfax County Detention Center on a felony count of robbery Thursday night.
A man wearing the superhero’s red mask, a blue sweatshirt and blue shorts snuck behind the counter of the Burke pharmacy and urged a pharmacist to let him into the safe at 3 p.m. Monday, indicating he had a weapon. He raced away with an unknown amount of the drug OxyContin.
Neville would not say whether the police recovered a mask, a weapon or pills, or say what Wolfe was driving.
