Joe Biden: Obamacare brought ‘peace of mind’

Former Vice President Joe Biden said that Obamacare brought peace of mind to millions of people through health insurance, a few days after President Trump made several moves that Democrats say are sabotaging the law.

Biden was speaking Saturday at an event at Reston, Va., for the state’s Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam’s gubernatorial campaign. He said the reason that “many of us fought” for the Affordable Care Act was to provide solace for people worried about medical costs and coverage.

“Think of the peace of mind that this has brought to millions of people about to be ripped away,” he said.

Democrats criticized Trump’s decision to end insurer payments and issue an executive order directing federal agencies to examine loosening Obamacare insurance rules through expanding short-term and association plans.

Biden also advocated for free access to community colleges. He said that such a move could increase economic growth.
