Prince George’s County police are investigating two shooting deaths in close proximity, authorities said.
At about 10:45 p.m. Monday, police were informed that a passerby noticed a body along a wood line in New Carrollton in the 5300 block of 85th Avenue.
Authorities found Christopher Donald Smith, 16, had been shot, Prince George’s police spokeswoman Julie Parker said.
Then about 11:30 p.m. an ambulance crew leaving the scene of the first incident found Alfonso Edward Thompson Jr., 23, had been shot while riding a bicycle in West Lanham Hills, Parker said.
Investigators are exploring the possibility that the crimes were related, Parker said, but there was no confirmation of a connection.
