One crew member in an Air Force helicopter was injured in Virginia on Monday.
A UH-1N Huey helicopter assigned to Joint Base Andrews was conducting a routine training exercise when it was shot at by someone on the ground, military officials told McClatchy in a report published Wednesday.
The helicopter made an emergency landing at a Virginia airport. The injured crew member, who has not been identified, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
The FBI is assisting in an investigation into the incident.
Officials ask that “anyone near this area at the time of the incident who may have information please call the FBI at 202-278-2000.”
