Ivanka Trump to meet ‘very soon’ with Angela Merkel

First daughter Ivanka Trump has accepted an invitation from German Chancellor Angela Merkel to attend an international summit on women’s issues next month.

The W-20 summit — a women-centered effort within the “Group of 20” — will take place in late April and feature female representatives from twenty major economies including the U.S. and Germany. The purpose of the annual summit, which is in its third year, is to promote and expand the economic opportunities for women across the globe.

President Trump told reporters on Monday that promoting female business leaders is a “top priority” for his administration and he looks forward to watching his daughter promote the White House’s Council for the Advancement of Women Business Leaders-Female Entrepreneurs in Berlin.

Ivanka Trump was instrumental in coordinating a listening session between Merkel, President Trump and vocational training leaders while the German chancellor was in Washington earlier this month.

She was also given an office in the West Wing last week and is expected to receive a security clearance, which has raised some eyebrows in light of anti-nepotsm statutes.
