For its new stimulus report, the latest version of which was released today, the Obama administration attempted to adopt a new metric to further inflate the numbers on stimulus job creation. I haven’t been able to look through enough of the data to say much about how badly this is skewing the final count.
But I can say this for sure: you cannot create a full-time job for less than $10,000. Not legally, anyway.
From the small sliver of jobs reports I’ve combed through so far — they account for just under 70,000 jobs — 2,413 fall into this low-paying category already. That’s actually not as bad as I’d expected, although it doesn’t necessarily mean that any of the other jobs are for real, either.
