More than 60 percent of Howard County residents commute outside of the county for work each day.
County officials want to lure these 95,000 people back to Howard?s job base as the federal base realignment at Fort Meade brings growth to the area, said Dick Story, chief executive officer of the Howard County Economic Development Authority.
About half of the commuters head to the Baltimore area while the rest drive to Washington and surrounding areas, said Story at a meeting with community group Transportation Advocates.
