The View host Joy Behar said any attempts to attack Joe Biden over his son’s business dealings was “dumb” because people have sympathy for the Biden family.
“Don’t you think politically it’s kind of dumb for the Republicans to go after Joe Biden’s son when he already lost a son and a daughter and a wife,” Behar said Friday on the show. “People feel sorry for Joe. It’s not him, he didn’t do a thing.”
Behar, 76, added that Biden did nothing wrong even if it did look bad for his son, Hunter Biden, to be on the board of a company that had dealings with Ukraine.
The Trump administration has accused Biden of corruption, claiming he tried to get Ukraine’s top prosecutor fired because he was investigating his son. House Democrats have opened an impeachment inquiry of Trump over a phone call he had with the Ukranian president in which he requested the country’s leader investigate potential corruption by Biden.
Democrats argue that Trump was threatening military aid to Ukraine if an investigation was not open while the president has consistently referred to the call as “perfect.”
