D.C. police made arrests in two unrelated fatal shootings that happened about a half mile apart in Northeast Washington.
Police said 22-year-old Terry T. Johnson was charged with first-degree murder while armed in the Oct. 26 killing of Andre Wiggins.
Wiggins, 19, was found shot just before noon on the 5200 block of Clay Street NE. He died at a hospital.
Also Wednesday, 22-year-old Stephen D. Barnes was arrested in connection with the Dec. 10 shooting death of 24-year-old Stephon Way. Way died at a hospital after he was found suffering gunshot wounds on the 4500 block of Benning Road NE at about 4 a.m.
Barnes is charged with first-degree murder while armed.
The arrests come a day after D.C. police announced arrests Tuesday in three other separate homicide cases. Arrests were made in killings that took place in January, May and December.
