Howard?s Department of Corrections received its ninth consecutive Recognition of Achievement Award from the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards.
The department met the commission?s standards through an audit including 82 standards in the areas of life, health, safety and constitutional issues.
The General Assembly created the commission in 1980.
