Rashida Tlaib badgers vaping advocate for winking at GOP congressman

Rep. Rashida Tlaib heavily scrutinized a vaping advocate on her politics and for winking at a Republican congressman during a hearing about e-cigarettes and their effects on the user’s health.

The Michigan Democrat asked Vicki Porter if she was “a conspiracy theorist,” because she calls herself a converted conservative.

“I was reading, because I wanted to know more about you and we all have different beliefs, but you call yourself a converted conservative and reformed Marxist, and are you a conspiracy theorist?” Tlaib asked Porter.

“I think my politics are entirely irrelevant to this hearing,” Porter replied.

“Oh OK, why were you winking at one of my colleagues on other side of the aisle? You winked,” Tlaib pressed.

Porter said she is a friend of Republican Wisconsin Rep. Glen Grothman and because he had introduced her.

“OK, I understand. I didn’t know what the winking was, because I thought maybe there were some thing like a conspiracy thing going on there. I didn’t know,” Tlaib said.

When Porter asked to address “the truth,” Tlaib said, “The truth to you is very different for the majority of people in this room.”

Porter shot back, “The truth for me is that I’ve quit smoking with e-cigarettes and so did 8 million other people.“

“You’re still smoking, ma’am,” Tlaib snapped back.

Grothman’s office did not return the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment.
