Trump: Coast Guard brand on the rise after hurricane response

President Trump on Thursday thanked members of the U.S. Coast Guard in Riviera Beach, Fla., for their response to this year’s hurricanes that hit Texas, Louisiana and Puerto Rico.

“I think that there’s no brand of any kind, I’m not just talking about a military brand, that has gone up more than the Coast Guard,” Trump said. “Incredible people and you’ve done an incredible job.”

Trump was there to join Coast Guardsmen in a Thanksgiving meal, but also to tell them that the economy was roaring, which would mean better equipment for all branches of the military.

“Nobody has the equipment that we have,” Trump said.

He also joked even when the U.S. sells some of its equipment to an ally, it keeps the best stuff for itself.

“The stuff that we have is always a little bit better, too,” Trump said. “You know, when we sell to other countries, even if they’re allies — you never know about an ally, an ally can turn.”
