Trump to host Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri at the White House

President Trump is set to host Argentinian President Mauricio Macri and first lady Juliana Awada at the White House on April 27.

Trump and Macri are expected to discuss ways to deepen the close partnership between the two countries.

“The two leaders will exchange views on a range of bilateral and regional issues, including the expansion of trade, security sector collaboration, and the deteriorating situation in Venezuela,” the White House statement said.

During their recent phone call in February, Trump emphasized the leadership role Macri is playing in the region and invited the Argentinian president to visit Washington.

Trump believes that the relationship Argentina started with the Obama administration will serve as the base of our discussions and find out ways to deepen our relations, Macri said in a Bloomberg TV interview.

“We should believe that we are going to analyze our relations and achieve benefits of future cooperation,” Macri said.

“We can find ways of increasing the relations between Argentina and the [United] States a lot, because we have very weak relations,” Macri said.
