University of Maryland student sexually assaulted
A 21-year-old University of Maryland student was sexually assaulted while in her off-campus apartment early Sunday morning, police said.
A man climbed into the girl’s bed in her home on the 7500 block of Dickinson Avenue and sexually assaulted her, police said. The attacker ran off when she screamed.
The suspect is a Middle Eastern or Hispanic man with a small build. Anyone with information is asked to call Prince George’s County police at 301-772-4908.
Suspicious substance at World Bank
A package containing a suspicious substance was found in the World Bank’s mailroom Monday afternoon, authorities said.
A small portion of the building at 18th and H streets Northwest was evacuated until authorities determined there was nothing toxic in the air. Investigators are trying to determine what the substance was that came spilling out of the package.
Fairfax bar owner charged with arson
A partial owner of Bridges Billiards and Grill in Fairfax City was charged with setting fire to the bar early Sunday morning, police said.
When firefighters responded to 10560 Main St., authorities said they found 28-year-old Ajmal Aman outside the bar. His clothes smelled of a flammable liquid and he admitted to being at the bar alone when the fire started around 3:30 a.m., they said.
Woman, 56, assaulted in Lincolnia
A 56-year-old woman was assaulted in an apartment building laundry room in Lincolnia, Fairfax County police said.
The woman was doing laundry in the building on the 4900 block of Manitoba Drive Friday when a man grabbed her from behind, police said. She was able to fight him off and sustained minor injuries before he fled.
The suspect is white, in his 20s and about 5-foot-8. He was wearing a navy sweater. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).
