On the day that Gov. Rick Perry is holding a National Day of Prayer, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., announced that over one hundred pastors and church leaders have endorsed Bachmann, as Republican candidates jockey for support before the Ames straw poll.
In a statement released with the endorsement list, the Minnesota representative emphasized her Iowa ties. “From the start of this campaign I have promised to take the values of Iowans to the White House,” said Bachmann. “I learned those values growing up in Waterloo, and I am grateful for the pastors and faith leaders who continue to teach them to new generations of Iowans. Thank you to each of these men and women who are standing with me in fighting for the future of our great nation.”
It would be convenient, to say the least, for the Bachmann campaign if the evangelical community coalesced behind her at the straw poll and caucuses.
