Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex picked a name for their newborn child.
It was announced Wednesday that the royal couple named the baby, a 7 lbs. 3 oz. boy born on Monday, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. There has been much speculation about what 34-year-old Prince Harry and Markle, 37, would name the child.
In an Instagram post on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s page, the couple posted a photo of them holding the baby alongside Queen Elizabeth II. Archie is the queen’s eighth great-grandchild.

Prior to Wednesday’s announcement, there were bets placed on gambling sites to guess what the child’s name would be. Leading names included Alexander, Arthur, and Philip, among others. One royal expert expected the couple to name the child something that would pay tribute to both British and American history considering Markle was born in Los Angeles and Prince Harry was born in London.
Archie is seventh in line for the throne.
