CHICAGO (AP) — A decorated Chicago police commander, accused of sticking his gun down the throat of a suspect and threatening to kill him, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to felony counts of aggravated battery and official misconduct.

Glenn Evans, 52, entered his plea during a brief hearing in a Cook County courtroom in Chicago, with the judge ordering him to return to court Oct. 13. Evans was arrested in August and indicted this month by a grand jury on the felony charges, stripped of his police powers by the department and put on paid administrative duty.
