Bill Kristol joined MSNBC to discuss Monday night’s presidential debate.
Kristol argued that the beginning of the debate, during which Donald Trump stuck to discussing trade and change, was the high point for the Republican nominee.
“It was a reasonably effective argument by Trump. You’re the status quo, you’re part of the problem, if you like the way things are going vote for Hillary. But if you want change, if you want these trade deals to be negotiated, I’m the person who will bring change. That had to be his core message. His core message had to be I’m change, she’s the status quo.”
Trump’s “tax return issue hurt him the most,” added Kristol. “She clobbered him on that.”
