Actress offers serious food for thought

You will never guess which red-haired television star of the CW?s “Reba” is speaking out about her struggle with anorexia.

It?s Scarlett Pomers, 18, who plays Kyra, Reba McEntire?s daughter on the show, who has struggled with weighty issues for some time.

Pomers will speak out about her bout with anorexia nervosa at 2 p.m. Sunday at Towson University.

The up-and coming-actress hopes to raise awareness about eating disorders and even started her own foundation, Arch-Angels, that helps raise money for the National Eating Disorder Association.

And, no surprise the association is presenting the event.

Pomers appearance is the first of a week-long schedule of events being presented by Sheppard Pratt?s Center for Eating Disorders for National Eating Disorders Awareness week.

A lightly catered reception will follow the event, said Morag Muirhead, a spokesperson with the Owing Mills ad firm MGH Inc.

Admission is free, but pre-registration is required to attend the event, call 410-938-3157.
