Dem fundraising pitch: ‘All hope is lost’ in the House

The official fundraising group dedicated to supporting Democrats in the House is “desperate” for donations.

In an email Saturday titled “All hope is lost,” the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said it is way behind on its monthly fundraising goal, while first lady Michelle Obama asked for donations twice in two days.

“I asked for your support yesterday. And now I’m asking for your help again today. That’s how incredibly important today is,” Obama is quoted as saying in the email.

The DCCC encourages a suggested donation of $5.

As it stands, the Democrats have an uphill battle in November to reclaim the lower chamber, which they lost in 2010. Republicans now outnumber them 246 to 188 in the House.

“Let us be clear: if we allow the Republicans to outraise us AGAIN, all hope is lost for winning a Democratic House that will protect President Obama’s legacy,” the DCCC states.

In another recent fundraising email, the DCCC warned that President Obama is “furious” because Donald Trump “actually has a shot at the White House.”
